Sociedad de Ortopedia dice: “La actuación de organismos de emergencias evitó más muertes en el Jet Set”

DIARIO ULTRAMAR, SANTO DOMINGO, RD.- La Sociedad Dominicana de Ortopedia y Traumatología dijo este jueves que la actuación rápida y certera de los organismos de socorro evitó que se produjeran más muertes y se salvaran muchas vidas en la tragedia del Jet Set.
El doctor Héctor López, presidente de la entidad, sostuvo que la respuesta del Comité Operativo de Emergencias (COE) fue rápida desde el momento en que llegaron las llamadas para informar de la tragedia.
“El COE, los hospitales, el 9-1-1, las ambulancias y los organismos de seguridad se integraron en un engranaje en coordinación con los hospitales del Gran Santo Domingo, que abrieron áreas y se fortalecieron las emergencias para poder recibir los pacientes”, manifestó López.
López dijo que el esfuerzo aunado de las instituciones del Estado y “nuestra Sociedad de Ortopedia, así como otras, garantizaron una respuesta hospitalaria rápida y se hubo colapso en los centros hospitalarios, a pesar de la magnitud de la tragedia”.
Resaltó que el Sistema Nacional de Atención a Emergencias y Seguridad 9-1-1 desarrolló una estrategia de traslado de pacientes que marcó la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte y el Hemocentro Nacional que activó la recolección de sangre en la ciudadanía.
“Si el país no se reactiva rápido, si los organismos de socorro hubieran actuado de otra manera, el saldo de fallecidos y heridos hubiera sido otro”, puntualizó el doctor López.
Dio valor a la actuación y la solidaridad del pueblo dominicano en el colapso del techo de la discoteca Jet Set, el lunes pasado.
El último boletín emitido este jueves por el COE reportó hasta el momento 221 fallecidos, asimismo el director de la institución Juan Manuel Méndez, aseguró que este operativo ha sido la tarea más difícil que le ha tocado realizar durante sus años de servicio.
