Este diciembre los puertos dominicanos recibirán 104 cruceros
Se espera que el 19 de diciembre sea el día con más embarcaciones, estando planificadas 8 tocadas entre Samaná, Amber Cove y Taino Bay.
DIARIO ULTRAMAR, SANTO DOMINGO.- Las provincias de Puerto Plata, Samaná, La Romana y el Distrito Nacional se preparan para recibir en este mes de diciembre a cientos de miles de turistas que llegarán a las costas caribeñas en 104 cruceros de alto nivel, cinco de los cuales tocarán por primera vez suelo dominicano, según el reporte de los puertos realizado por la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana (APORDOM).
De acuerdo con los datos de APORDOM, las embarcaciones de cruceros que tocarán por primera vez la República Dominicana llegarán a la terminal de Taino Bay, perteneciente a la compañía ITM Group, en el municipio cabecera de la provincia de Puerto Plata, y cuya primera etapa fue inaugurada en el mes de diciembre de 2021, para luego completar su segunda etapa en febrero de este 2023.
La recepción de estas nuevas embarcaciones inició el lunes 4 con el Norwegian Prima; y continuarán el viernes 08 cuando arribe el Celebrity Ascent, mientras que el sábado 9 se recibirá el crucero Oceania Vista, el domingo 10 el Explorer of the Seas y el 26 de diciembre el Brilliant Lady.
Asimismo, reporta la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana que para el martes 19 de diciembre se espera el mayor movimiento de embarcaciones en el país, pues se planifica recibir 8 cruceros de forma simultánea a través de las terminales de Taino Bay, Amber Cove y Samaná, tratándose de las embarcaciones Explora 1, Nieuw Amsterdam, Aida Diva, Carnival Celebration, Carnival Vista, Scarlet Lady, Norwegian Encore y el Grandeur of the Seas.
Calendario de cruceros
Los datos presentados corresponden al calendario de proyección de tocadas a recibir en diciembre 2023, tomando en cuenta que existen algunas variantes que puedan generar cambios en el mismo, tales como condiciones del clima, cambios de rutas por parte de las líneas de cruceros, entre otras, pudiendo así disminuir o incrementar el número de tocadas.
El director de la Autoridad Portuaria, Jean Luis Rodriguez, destacó la importancia del movimiento de cruceristas para estas provincias costeras. Así como el incremento en el número de embarcaciones que se recibirán este diciembre con relación a los años 2019 y 2022. Por lo que arribaron a la República Dominicana 76 y 97 cruceros, respectivamente.
Los cruceristas que arriben a nuestro país tendrán la oportunidad de explorar las bellezas naturales y culturales de estos destinos, y a la vez consolidarán la economía al fomentar el turismo de frente a nuestra población e incluso la interacción con los negocios y servicios de la zona.
Al cierre de noviembre de 2023, la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana (APORDOM) registró 1,933,385 pasajeros vía marítima. Un aumento de 75.48% en comparación con el periodo enero-noviembre 2022, cuando se reportaron unos 1,101,754 cruceristas.
Sobre la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana
La Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana (APORDOM), organismo con carácter autónomo, patrimonio propio e independencia y duración ilimitada, está sujeta a las prescripciones de la Ley No. 70, y a los reglamentos que dicte el Poder Ejecutivo, fue fundada el 17 de diciembre de 1970 constituyéndose en el organismo regulador del sistema portuario dominicano; es su tarea dirigir y administrar los puertos marítimos e incrementar el comercio internacional de la República Dominicana.
En el período de gestión 2020-2023, APORDOM ha conseguido inaugurar la terminal de cruceros Taino Bay en Puerto Plata; la adecuación de Sugar Breeze, La Romana Cruise Terminal, para recibir cruceros clase Oasis; emprendidos los trabajos de construcción de las terminales Samaná Bayport y Port Cabo Rojo, en Santa Bárbara de Samaná y Cabo Rojo, Pedernales, respectivamente y la firma del contrato de conversión del Puerto Duarte en Arroyo Barril en una terminal de cruceros.
En adición a dichas obras, APORDOM se encuentra trabajando en la rehabilitación de los muelles 1 y 2 del Puerto de Barahona para la recepción de cruceros. Esto, con una inversión aproximada de RD$ 400 millones, de los cuales RD$ 150 millones serán ejecutados con fondos propios de la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana.
Una vez finiquitados los trabajos de construcción de las nuevas terminales, el país contará con 8 terminales de cruceros, de las cuales 6 podrán recibir cruceros clase Oasis. Una transformación importante que contrasta con las 3 terminales existentes para 2020, de las cuales una sola tenía la capacidad de recibir a los cruceros más grandes del mundo.
