Edward Cruz, joven empresario dominicano es reconocido por el Congreso de los Estados Unidos.

Washington, D. C.- El licenciado Edward Cruz, joven empresario y filántropo dominicano, radicado en Miami recibió el reconocimiento del Congreso de los Estados Unidos, el cual fue establecido en el 1979 y es el más alto honor presentado por la legislatura de los Estados Unidos y luego de 12 años es entregado una vez más para reconocer líderes de la comunidad hispana en el Sur de la Florida.
El reconocimiento tuvo lugar en el Edificio Rayburn del Congreso de Estados Unidos y fue organizado por la congresista republicana María Elvira Salazar, quien ha hecho causa común en la lucha por la democracia en América Latina. En noviembre del 2022 la congresista hizo noticia al emplazar al Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos a retractarse ante el pronunciamiento de que los dominicanos son racistas y calificando de abuso la alerta de viaje hecha por la embajada.
Cruz expresó: «sentirse inmensamente honrado de haber sido incluido en este grupo de líderes nominados a recibir tan alta distinción, este tipo de reconocimientos nos inspira a continuar trabajando en beneficio de nuestra comunidad y motivar a que cada día más personas emulen y se integren a los trabajos en favor de sus comunidades, es nuestro deber motivar a los jóvenes a trabajar por una sociedad que se preocupe por sus miembros y solo con el ejemplo se hará más fácil este trabajo”. “Agradecemos a Dios primeramente, a la congresista María Elvira Salazar, a nuestro amigo Alfred Santamaría, a mis padres, mi familia, mis amigos y la comunidad dominicana en el Sur de la Florida por el constante apoyo brindado a través de los años”.
El joven empresario viene realizando labores sociales a través de “Miracle International Foundation”, una fundación enfocada en la ayuda a los niños y envejecientes necesitados en la República Dominicana al igual que en la lucha contra la violencia de género. En el plano local, el licenciado Cruz trabaja en su empresa de consultoría empresarial y política, actualmente está aspirando a la candidatura de la diputación por el PRM en la Circunscripción No. 02 del Exterior, que abarca las comunidades dominicanas que residen en los países de Centro y Sur América, las Antillas Menores y Mayores, Puerto Rico, los estados de Georgia y Florida.
Apuntó que continuará buscando la forma de estrechar los lazos de nuestra comunidad dominicana con los diferentes gobiernos locales y así fomentar la integración y participación de los dominicanos de manera positiva en las sociedades de los diferentes países donde residen.
El joven empresario fue acompañado en el acto de reconocimiento por su esposa Gilma Cruz y el también empresario dominicano experto en reciclaje, el Dr. Francis Martínez.
