El Banco de Reservas ingresó como miembro afiliado de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (ONU Turismo), que es el organismo de las Naciones Unidas encargado de promover el turismo mundial y del que forman parte 500 empresas y organizaciones públicas y privadas procedentes de diversos países.
El ingreso formal de la institución bancaria dominicana se produjo en el marco de la celebración de la 121ª Sesión del Consejo Ejecutivo de ONU Turismo, celebrado en Barcelona, España, donde el Banco estuvo representado por su directora general de Negocios Turísticos, Deyanira Pappaterra.
La aceptación de la denominación fue sugerida por la embajadora de la República Dominicana ante la ONU-Turismo, Anabel Bueno Santana-Dolenc, en coordinación con el Viceministerio para Asuntos de Cooperación del Ministerio de Turismo.
La participación de Banreservas como integrante del prestigioso organismo de la ONU plantea múltiples beneficios para dimensionar su estrategia de negocios de turismo en diversos escenarios internacionales, destinados a promover la inversión en ese sector en República Dominicana.
Entre esas opciones se pueden mencionar la gestión de networking, así como la facilidad de interacción mediante los canales de comunicación con los Estados miembros y miembros del sector privado participantes en este tipo de evento internacional.
Además de promover el turismo mundial, la misión de ONU-Turismo es gestionar un turismo responsable, sostenible y accesible para todos. Para lograrlo, el organismo colabora estrechamente con sus integrantes, ya sean gobiernos o entidades del sector privado.
Al estar formado por más de 500 empresas privadas, asociaciones, instituciones educativas y organizaciones de gestión de destinos, el Departamento de Miembros Afiliados de la ONU Turismo proporciona un espacio único a sus integrantes para intercambiar conocimientos, apoyar nuevas medidas y crear sinergias que promuevan el desarrollo del sector, además de contribuir a la promoción de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible del Turismo (ODS).
