Aviación civil de RD demandará 300 nuevos pilotos en próximo 5 años

Héctor Porcella reafirma compromiso del IDAC con la seguridad operacional y la capacitación del talento humano
DIARIO ULTRAMAR, SANTO DOMINGO, RD. -El crecimiento de la aviación comercial que registra actualmente la República Dominicana no solo demanda un sistemático esfuerzo para garantizar la seguridad operacional en el tráfico aéreo, sino también la capacitación del talento humano y los recursos técnicos especializados, incluyendo la formación de 300 nuevos pilotos en los próximos 5 años.
Así lo afirmó el director general del Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil (IDAC) Héctor Porcella, al participar en una sesión de entrenamiento de varios jóvenes que participan en el concurso “Quiero ser piloto”, que procura estimular el interés de la juventud dominicana en el estudio de esa carrera, considerada como una de las más cotizadas y mejor pagadas en el mundo.
La Organización de la Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI), explicó Porcella, ha estimado que en los próximos 20 años esa industria demandará 500 mil nuevos pilotos para responder a la expansión global del sector. Y proclamó que el fortalecimiento de la seguridad operacional y la formación del talento humano a través de la Academia Superior de Ciencias Aeronáuticas (ASCA) encabezan la lista de prioridades de la institución.
El concurso organizado bajo la producción ejecutiva del periódico El Nuevo Diario con el apoyo del IDAC y de otras entidades, convocó en su primer lanzamiento a 173 jóvenes de ambos sexos, entre 18 y 30 años, que se sometieron a un riguroso proceso de selección para participar en una ronda final que deberá escoger a un primer ganador y eventualmente a otros participantes meritorios, de acuerdo a gestiones para ampliar el alcance del certamen.
El evento creado y co-producido por la joven periodista y controladora aérea Olga Pérez, quien explicó que el objetivo principal del concurso es motivar el interés de los jóvenes del país por la carrera y al mismo tiempo crear conciencia en sectores públicos y privados sobre la necesidad de apoyar materialmente la formación de un talento esencial para el desarrollo de la aviación civil, un sector clave para el turismo, el comercio y la población en general.
Indicó que el programa de capacitación de un aviador es sumamente exigente y costoso, por lo que prácticamente solo está al alcance de un reducido segmento de la juventud dominicana, limitando la posibilidad de que el país pueda aportar los recursos humanos que demanda la aviación comercial.
La carrera de piloto aviador hasta la categoría de piloto comercial cuesta más de 50 mil dólares. La mayoría de los participantes no cuenta con los ingresos necesarios para costearse los estudios y se les dificulta conseguir financiamiento, ya que por ser muy jóvenes no cuentan con historial crediticio.
El encuentro de Porcella con los jóvenes preseleccionados se produjo durante una pausa de su entrenamiento en un simulador de vuelo de la Academia de Ciencias Aeronáuticas (ASCA) del IDAC, donde declaró su interés de seguir apoyando la iniciativa más allá de la actual edición del concurso. Estuvo acompañado de la directora de la ASCA, Clara Fernández y del director de comunicación del IDAC, Luis José Chávez.
El concurso “Quiero ser piloto 2023”, convocado por Editora El Nuevo Diario, cuenta con la colaboración del IDAC, la Academia Superior de Ciencias Aeronáuticas, la Representación Permanente de República Dominicana ante la Organización Internacional de Aviación Civil (OACI), en Canadá, AERODOM powered by VINCI Airports, Sky High Dominicana, SERVAIR, TERPEL, Gabinete de Política Social, Oficina Gubernamental de Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (OGTIC), Gabinete de Innovación de la Presidencia, Barrick Gold Corporation, la Academia Aeronáutica Latina (AEROLATINA), Centro de Entrenamiento Aeronáutico de Las Américas (ENALAS), Entrenamiento Aeronáutico Zoilo Hermógenes García (ZOHERGA), Instituto Cultural Dominico Americano, AFPCRECER y Finotex.
