DIARIO ULTRAMAR, SANTO DOMINGO.- El Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil (IDAC) y el Ejército de la República Dominicana (ERD) formalizaron un acuerdo para fortalecer la colaboración institucional en temas de seguridad y defensa del territorio nacional, tanto en el ámbito terrestre como en el espacio aéreo.
La firma estuvo a cargo del director general del IDAC, Héctor Porcella, y del comandante general del Ejército, mayor general Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre.
“El IDAC es la autoridad del país responsable de la supervisión y vigilancia de la aviación civil en el territorio y espacio aéreo nacional, en cumplimiento de los estándares de seguridad y protección de la aviación civil establecidos por nuestras leyes y las normas trazadas por la Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI)”, apuntó Porcella.
Al resaltar la trascendencia del acuerdo, Porcella afirmó que la iniciativa se corresponde con la firme voluntad del presidente Luis Abinader de darle pleno cumplimiento al artículo 10 de la Constitución de la República que declara de supremo y permanente interés nacional la seguridad, el desarrollo económico, social y turístico de la zona fronteriza.
De acuerdo con Porcella, las medidas de seguridad que impulsa el gobierno en la línea fronteriza se complementan con importantes obras de infraestructura y un programa de inversiones ejecutadas a través de la Estrategia de Desarrollo de la Frontera, cuyas acciones ya han comenzado a transformar positivamente la realidad de esta zona.
El mayor general Fernández Onofre explicó que la firma del acuerdo fue autorizada por el ministro de Defensa, teniente general Carlos Díaz Morfa, para que el Ejército, como institución responsable de las operaciones militares terrestres, coordine acciones con el IDAC para garantizar la integridad territorial de la República Dominicana.
