Edward Cruz en rueda de prensa anunció su precandidatura a Diputado del PRM por la Circunscripción II del Exterior.

MIAMI, Florida.- En un nutrido y emocionante acto, el empresario, dirigente político y activista comunitario Edward Cruz, anunció sus aspiraciones como precandidato a diputado del Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) por la Circunscripción II del exterior.

El evento tuvo lugar en el reconocido restaurante el Mesón de la Cava de esta ciudad de Miami, en el acto fungió como maestro de ceremonias el periodista y mercadólogo Norberto Martínez, quien dio la bienvenida a los miembros de la prensa y al público en general.

En la parte inicial del evento el empresario, activista comunitario y director político de la campaña Kelvin Acosta, expresó «que el precandidato Edward Cruz que hoy anuncia oficialmente sus legítimas aspiraciones para convertirse en un seguro diputado de la Circunscripción II del exterior, tiene los méritos y condiciones para representar a la diáspora dignamente desde una curul en la Cámara de Diputados de la República Dominicana».

El empresario y activista comunitario Francis Martínez, quien es el director o jefe de campaña, le dio lectura a la semblanza sobre lo que ha sido la vida de su compañero inseparable Edward Cruz, también apuntó «que Cruz es un gran trabajador político y comunitario, que está pendiente de los problemas y males que afectan a la comunidad». 

Agregando además «estoy muy conciente y convencido que Edward Cruz va a legislar a favor y beneficio del exterior, además que se ha preparado como técnico y político para desempeñar ese gran rol en la Cámara de Diputados.

El la parte final el precandidato Edward Cruz, pronunció un emotivo discurso y dio a conocer cuales son sus propuestas, a donde precisó:

«Estimados amigos y compañeros, miembros de la comunidad dominicana residentes en el exterior.

Para muchos de nosotros el amor a la Patria se agudiza en la distancia, durante años los dominicanos hemos emigrado a otros países en busca de mejores oportunidades para nosotros y nuestros familiares (los que viven con nosotros y aquellos a quienes dejamos en nuestro terruño).

Gracias a la lucha y el esfuerzo de ese gran líder ido a destiempo, el Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez, el emigrante dominicano ha obtenido la oportunidad de ejercer uno de los derechos más importantes en la democracia, el derecho al voto, el derecho de elegir y ser elegido, la oportunidad de tener voz y decidir quién nos representara en la constante lucha de lograr que se entienda que la responsabilidad de beneficiar a los dominicanos con propuestas y leyes de parte de los políticos no termina ni en la frontera, ni en las costas de nuestro país.    Pero de nada vale ejercer ese derecho, si una vez elegido el candidato y dicha escogencia no es traducida en beneficios para aquellos que viven en el exterior.  

Si, existe un gran vacío!!

Nos llena de orgullo escuchar que fueron las remesas de los dominicanos en el exterior quienes ayudaron grandemente a la economía del país durante la pandemia alcanzando 10,402 millones en el 2021 convirtiéndonos en una de las principales fuentes de ingresos para un gobierno que asumió un país en quiebra, esto es sin incluir el aporte informal de aquellos que viajan al país y no declaran el dinero ingresado;  en el primer trimestre del 2023 las remesas reflejaron 2,500 millones para una proyección de final de año superior a los 10.6 millones.  A nivel electoral, el exterior no solo cuenta con 700 mil votantes, sino que a través de las remesas ese número es influenciado exponencialmente por 3 (siendo conservativos) lo cual implica una influencia en más del 27% del universo electoral, no obstante seguimos siendo obviados o reconocidos de la boca para afuera de parte de nuestros legisladores del exterior.

Ha llegado el momento, es tiempo de que entiendan que los dominicanos en el exterior no necesitamos ser reconocidos, ni que nos digan el valor que representamos, eso lo sabemos de sobra; lo que necesitamos es que nos tomen en cuenta, no es correcto, no es justo, no es democrático que las decisiones trascendentales que afectan miles de dirigentes a nivel político sean tomadas sin incluir equitativamente la opinión de aquellos que serán afectados por esas decisiones. Es una incoherencia, es una hipocresía, es una burla a la buena fe de aquellos que trabajan para un mejor país.

A nivel partidario, las campañas políticas más baratas son las realizadas en el exterior, no solo son autosostenibles, sino que también recolectan para aportar para la campaña en el país, pero una vez obtenido el triunfo esos mismos dirigentes son considerados no calificados para representar la cara del gobierno para el cual trabajaron y luego deben escuchar que no tienen visión, ni compromiso mientras observan como aquellos que lucharon para que nuestro partido no llegara al poder son los que más están siendo beneficiados de ese cambio que propusimos  o ver cómo van mandando representantes desde la República Dominicana a ocupar los espacios justamente ganados; como ven no es justo, y mucho menos ético.

Nunca hemos hecho algo por la simple razón de llenar un ego, no es, ni será nunca lo que nos mueve, pero tampoco nos hemos amilanado ante los retos que hemos tenido que enfrentar al defender o representar a nuestros compañeros y hermanos, accionar que en retribución se ha convertido en la solicitud de cientos de compañeros para que elevemos nuestra voz una vez más y a un nivel aún más alto en beneficio de una comunidad que ha sido burlada y usada por demasiado tiempo!!! 

Las circunstancias nos obliga una vez más asumir la bandera que un día nuestro extinto líder Peña Gómez empuñó: la bandera de la defensa de las bases, la bandera de la representación real de aquellos que un día emigraron por obligación o necesidad.    Es por eso que en los próximos días estaremos presentando la inscripción oficial a la precandidatura a diputado de la Circunscripción II de Ultramar, que abarca los estados de Georgia y Florida, Centro, Sudamérica, México, Puerto Rico y las islas del Caribe.

Sabemos que una vez que lleguemos tendremos que hacer reconocimientos a destacados connacionales en el exterior, pero queremos se sepa que no vamos al Congreso a gastar el tiempo y dinero del pueblo en propuestas sin beneficios a la diáspora como lo son nombrar salones, nombrar calles, o entregar proclamas; no digo que no lo haremos sino que nuestra prioridad será legislar para suplir las necesidades de nuestros hermanos fuera de la República Dominicana. Y cuando digo hermanos, no me refiero solamente a los de nuestro partido, pues nuestro compromiso es con nuestra comunidad.

Sabemos que el camino que nos espera es arduo, sabemos que nos exponemos a la más baja forma de la política al participar en una campaña de esta magnitud, pues nunca hemos sido exentos de la insidia, la ignominia y la calumnia, no obstante la verdad siempre ha salido a la luz.  Nos mueve algo más grande que nosotros, tenemos un compromiso, con Dios, con nuestra familia, con nuestros compañeros, con nuestro pueblo, con nuestro país.  Venimos a demostrar que si existe una forma diferente de hacer política, venimos a representar el verdadero cambio en favor de aquellos que nunca son tomados en cuenta, venimos a llenar un vacío y no a ocupar un espacio, venimos a legislar, y con Dios de nuestro lado, venimos a ser Diputado ! !    Muchas Gracias! ! !«

Al término del discurso el precandidato Cruz, respondió diversas preguntas formuladas por comunicadores sociales y miembros de la comunidad.

La Seccional Florida Sur del PRM estuvo representada por Luis Lasosé, secretario general, Ángel Aguasvivas, segundo subsecretario general, Rafael Valdez Espinal, secretario electoral, Orquídea Olivo, secretaria de finanzas, Juan B. Medina, presidente de la juventud, Rafael Arturo Valdez Jr., presidente de crecimiento, Johnny Encarnación, fiscal, Nancy González, encargada de disciplina, Gerardo Sabana, Ney Lapaix, Maitee Attias, América Tavárez, entre otros destacados dirigentes.

El SeNaSa y el Seguro Larimar del Exterior, estuvo representado por Tania Rubirosa, gerente del estado de la Florida y Tomás Callender, encargado de afiliación.
